There is no doubt that there have been some strange, weird, and extreme bets made in recent history, but these bets just might take the cake for being “different”.

First of all, did you hear the story about the Russian man who apparently bet, and lost, his wife in a game of cards? Well, he allegedly lost all of the chips he had, so in order to continue, he put his wife up for more chips. After losing these chips as well he returned home, only to hear a knock at the door the next day. It was the man who had won his wife, and he had come to collect the winnings! The man’s wife was horrified that her husband had “bet” her, and decided that leaving him was justifiable. Strangely enough, she fell right in love with the man who won her. He was apparently some kind of charming, handsome newspaper reporter. It is not known whether the Russian man meant to lose his wife but the bet goes down as being a strange one, that is for sure.

There was also the guy who won $100,000 for getting breast implants, and keeping them in for a year. This Canadian gentleman already had a reputation for doing things that most people wouldn’t - for example, he once lived for a month in his bathroom and won $15,000 for it. But maybe the strangest part of this story is that, after eight years, he still had the “surgically implanted breasts” in. In fact, it is said that he still has them in! Strange? Most definitely. Entertaining? Of course!

There are a lot of strange bets on the books out there. Maybe when very wealthy people get bored, this is what they do in their spare time. Oh well - I cannot say I wouldn’t bet on weird stuff too if I was rich!
